Spaces of Hope has been cocreated by people who want to see a world transformed. Spaces of Hope began in 2016 in north west England, with gatherings that help people see the world they want, each from their own belief base and worldview. We use an approach that is rooted in lived experience, to curate dialogues, networks, thought leadership, leadership practice and pioneering research, to guide people, communities and institutions in the UK and oversees towards the change they want. We are developing our work as a social movement which responds to the uncertainties that are increasingly shaping our lives, from the mental health epidemic, political division, climate change, poverty and inequality, the pandemic, institutional crises, culture wars and the meta-crisis. We do this to open up the possibility of a hopeful and just society for us all.
New for 2025 - Curating Spaces of Hope: transformational leadership for uncertain times - Due for publication in March 2025
New for 2025 - Beyond Polarisation: Faith based Leadership in an era of poly-crisis - a call for participation in pioneering new forms of leadership - initial deadline 4th March 2025
This Research Topic aims to explore the theoretical and practical dimensions of responses to poly-crises by various faith communities and ideological groups within the public domain. We are intrigued by contributions that critique and expand the understanding of the roles that different faiths and worldviews can assume in this context, particularly those that adopt a more centrist stance and embrace broader leadership notions reminiscent of the political ideas of Antonio Gramsci or William Temple's public theology concepts. These approaches challenge the dominant narratives of polarization and populism, encouraging a return to foundational social, civic, and communal structures and exploring new avenues toward constructing a just society for all.
